Architects’ Salaries in Europe

Examining the relationship between architects' salaries and changes in the number of registered professionals across 13 major European economies.

To provide some context and further exploration of my column in the Architects’ Journal, below is some data analysis drawn from the Architects’ Council of Europe data portal which compared UK salaries to the other major European economies.

Firstly, comparing the change in the total number of architects in the period from 2010 to 2024 shows the UK as an outlier. It has the only real-world decrease in salaries over this time against all the comparative economies showing an increase.

There is a clear correlation between economic performance and salaries across Europe. The biggest increases in GDP per capita show the greatest increase in salaries.
